Tech Tutor: How hydrogen is generated from ammonia

November 26, 2024

On the path to a net zero future powered by sustainable energy, hydrogen stands out as one of the most promising carbon free energy sources. However, transforming hydrogen into liquid form and transporting it over long distances is not practical due to its volatility, embrittlement, and low energy density.

A promising solution is ammonia, which is emerging as a viable hydrogen carrier. By leveraging existing infrastructure, it can be transported over long distances and converted into hydrogen at the point of use through ammonia cracking technology.

Ammonia cracking will play a role in Hanwha’s efforts to develop a clean hydrogen value chain encompassing production, storage, and utilization.

Here's how ammonia cracking works, delivering carbon free hydrogen right where it’s needed.
